Gigi's Playhouse

Here's a very interesting article called Learning to Read With Down Syndrome written by Karen Meyer. It's about a literacy program at Gigi's Playhouse in Chicago. You can also go to http://www.gigisplayhouse.com/

Great article ... too bad we don't live close enough to attend! We've been doing site reading with Kayla too (I did post awhile ago on sight reading with Kayla ... here is the link if you're interested in reading it: http://mdbeau.blogspot.com/2006/05/sight-reading_27.html ) There is a little video of her sight reading "hi" and "mommy"...I've slacked off on doing this with her though and need to start again!

Cool - it sounds like a great place! I have been meaning to do some stuff from Teaching Reading to Children with ds, but I just haven't had a chance this summer. Your post might inspire me :) Thanks!
