Busy, busy weekend!

Well I started off this morning driving a hour out to the Navy Base at Groton to pick up my friend for the weekend. He's being transferred next week to Virginia so this will be our last time with him for quite some time. Anyways, we got back to our apartment at 12:00 only to have to get Joey ready to go to his birthday party at my in-laws house at 1:00. So off to Grandma & Grandpa's house we went. Joey had a blast! Lots of great gifts and we even let Joey have a piece of cake. Of coarse he didn't really eat any, he just played in it and got REALLY messy. He tasted the icing a little and I don't think he was too crazy about it. Kinda surprised me... and of coarse I left my camera over at my in-laws house so I will have to post pictures and video later when I can get them uploaded onto my computer.

Tomorrow we're going to the New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade, I'm very excited about it. I didn't get to go last year, it was my baby shower and I was in no condition to stand outside at a parade (I went into labor the next day). Well, I guess that's it for now, I will hopefully post pictures tomorrow night!

Oh yes, also, here's a great find. "They'll Do It Themselves" written by Michael Winerip. It's the cover story for tomorrow NY Times Connecticut Section. Way to go guys!!!

New friends!

Last night at the storytime we got to meet Georgia & her parents, Tricia & Alex from Unringing The Bell! It made the event even better! That was the first time I've gotten to meet someone from blogging.

We also got to see other people that we don't get to see that often. Joey started getting fussy after a while so I went to stand in the back and while standing back there, Joey buddy Nick (who's 19) came over to help me with Joey and wouldn't you know, the second Nick put his hand on Joey's back, Joey calmed down. Nick has the magic touch!

Polar Plunge!

A very good friend of mine from high school, Matt, is swimming in the Missouri Special Olympics Polar Plunge in February and I just wanted to share the link in case any of you might want to donate to his goal of $500. Help Matt out if you have some extra cash!

back in the day...

I often sit back and think about my days in high school. My friends, the things we did together (some I regret, some not), and my days in AFJROTC and marching band (yeah, I was a dork). There are some I still have contact with, and some I wish I could be in contact with. Many have grown up, some still have growing up to do. I was part of a very close net group of friends. We all were in either band or ROTC together. I was fit and in shape, not to mention about 30+ pounds lighter than I am now. I love popping a tape in of an old marching band performance and picking myself out. Some of my friends joined the military, some went away to college, and some stayed home and went to local colleges. I wish I could find the few I have no clue where they are. I have a myspace and a facebook account and unfortunately, not everyone is on them.

(I'm the second from the left)

Then I look back on the couple years before I moved up here to Connecticut. I worked my butt off at various jobs, hung out at a local bar (often drinking too much) and taking turns with Patrick flying back and forth so we could see each other every other month or so. I am a much different person I was back then, I have grown up more in the past 2 years than I ever thought I could.

But yet, I look back on the old days, and miss it. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change my life back for anything now. Being home all day long DOES get very lonely though, I know I could get out more but part of me just doesn't want to.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this post, but just wanted to let any of my friends from Ohio know that I miss them. If any of you guys stumbled across this link via my myspace or facebook profiles and now read this, be sure to drop me a comment saying hi!

Well, I just finished feeding Joey peas for the first time and he LOVED them. I expected him to spit them all over the place and making yucky faces, but instead I got a happy little boy smacking his lips together and smiling at me! I really wish I would have had my camera handy so I could of gotten some pictures.

My girlfriend and her daughter are here until Thursday, and we've had such a great time! Yesterday we went to Ikea (I love that store!) and today we're going to a local orchard. Tomorrow we're going to go to the Mystic Aqaurium. I'll be sure to post pictures later. On that note, here's a couple tummy time pictures to leave y'all with!

I just wanted to give y'all a quick update. I won't be around a lot for the next couple days. One of my best friends from high school, Paco aka Ryan who is in the Navy and stationed a hour from our house, was able to get a weekend of leave so I drove to Groton yesterday and picked him up. Then Monday, another one of my best friends from high school, Chauntey and her 4 year old daughter, Teylor, who now lives in New Hampshire are coming to visit until Wednesday. It's going to be a busy, fun week!!

Joey is doing great. Still cranky and not wanting to take naps, but hopefully it will get better soon!

The past two days Joey has been trying so hard to hold onto his bottle. Well, he's been trying for a while, but yesterday and today he is determined to hold the darn thing. The only problem is, he can't seem to keep his left hand up, but practice will make perfect :)

He's also been sleeping a lot more lately. He sleeps through the night (10pm-7am) and his naps have been getting a little longer during the day (which has been nice for me). I've also been finding myself getting tired a lot more, being a mom is definetly hard work!! When I was younger I would look at my mom and think how fun and easy it would be to be a stay at home mom and I've found out how hard it truely is!!

This weekend is going to be a lot of fun. Patrick's friend, Curt from law school is coming for a visit. We haven't seen him since our wedding so it's going to be nice to see him again. And as long as the rain holds off, we're going to the Irish Festival. Pat's Dad's band is playing and the twins will be step dancing at the feis on Sunday. Good music & food, how much better can it get?

Wonderful Weekend!

We had such a great weekend! First of all, our little vacation was exactly what we needed. Poor Patrick, he didn't want to go back to work today. Friday, we went to Mystic Aqaurium and to the Seaport. Of corse Joey slept through the first half of the aquarium. Then Saturday we went to our friend's wedding in Providence, Rhode Island. It was such a beautiful wedding! Joey was the hit of the day! All the women we're crazy about him! He's such a lady's man! On our way home on Sunday, we stopped back in Mystic and walked through some stores.

Friday night in the hotel, Joey had a HUGE breakthrough. He not only discovered that he has a voice and knows how to use it, but also that he can smile! Now he's babbling away! I'm so happy! He's such a little comic! Of corse, everytime he's smiling and I go to take his picture and stops smiling... I'll catch him one day soon! He also discovered mirrors a couple days before our trip and now he loves to watch himself!

Yesterday, we took Joey to the beach for the first time! Of corse the water was too cold to put him in yet, but the look on his face when I put his feet in the sand was priceless!

Sunday was our one year wedding anniversary. I can't believe I've been married for a year. That also means, I've been away from home and my parents for a year. It still doesn't feel like it's been that long. Where does the time go?
