Parent's Magazine October 2006

Parent's Magazine is has an article in October's issue featuring 3 families that have children with Down syndrome. It's called "Exceptional Children, Forget everything you know about Down syndrome. We asked three moms to talk frankly about the joys and challenges of raising their amazing children- and what they have to say will surprise you", written by Brooke Lea Foster. The article was a nice change compared to the articles we usually read about all the negatives.

Ya know, don't you feel like there's some sort of 'revolution' going on? Like people are finally coming out and saying, "You know what my kid has Downs...so what!" I am SO PROUD of Jack, you are so proud of Joey...heck, look down the side of your blog at how many are PROUD of their babies and LOVE them. I'm so happy to hear about magazine articles, and movies, and tv specials and this wonderful blogging community! I am SO happy to have found all of you! And I'm still discovering new blogs every day!
These children have so much to offer! I'm glad they are finally being recognized as the blessings that they are.
Sorry this is so long...
:)

I subscribe to this mag and finally got mine just a couple days ago...haven't read the article yet, but skimmed really quick. The girl in one of those stories is so pretty! Can't wait to read it and I'm so glad they got some real stories on Ds from actual parents! Kudos to the mag; I think I might have to write them a letter!

As soon as i heard about the article i ran to the grocery store to get it. it's a great article! It's nice to see a mainstream magazine do an article about DS that's positive.
